Factoring

Factoring is a property management service offered to Owners (and Sharing Owners) to coordinate and carry out work on their behalf, in relation to the maintenance of common land or space, as well as to common parts of a specific property.

We are registered as a Property Factor with the Scottish Government, registration number PF000386, and provide factoring services to around 70 properties across East Lothian.   

We aim to ensure that the common parts of our buildings and developments are maintained to the highest possible standard. We provide Owners and Sharing Owners with a Written Statement of Services each year (or, when we know there has been a change in ownership, within three months of that change).  We will also provide a Statement of Account on an annual basis.

  • Stair and communal cleaning
  • Stair and courtyard lighting
  • External painting
  • Replacement floor coverings
  • Buildings insurance

We comply with the Property Factors Code of Conduct and aim to provide a first-class service for all of our customers, but recognise that we don’t always get it right.  Customers can make a complaint about our Factoring Service using our Complaints Handling Procedures.  If an owner is dissatisfied with the outcome of their complaint and believe we have failed to carry out our factoring duties, they are entitled to contact the Housing and Property Chamber, First-Tier Tribunal for Scotland.
