2021 Rent Increase Consultation Results
1,331 tenants were consulted, 981 (74%) via e-mail and 350 (26%) via Royal Mail.
A 1st reminder was sent to all paper-free non-responders on 21 January (Platinum) and 22 January (all others), and a 2nd reminder was sent to Platinum non-responders on 27 January. The consultation was the headline news in the January e-Talk newsletter, three reminders to take part were posted on social media, and a notice reminding tenants to take part was displayed on all My Home accounts during the consultation period.
Taking part in the consultation was a requirement for receiving a Platinum Key Tenant discount.
379 (28.5%) tenants responded, an increase from 24.3% in 2020

What is your Key Tenant Status?
- 66% of responders said they were Platinum Key Tenants
- 16% said they were Gold Key Tenants
- 3% were in the process of upgrading
- 7% said they were paper free and would qualify for Bronze
- 1% said they were going to go paper free to qualify for a Bronze discount
- 4% said they did not intend to upgrade, and
- 3% left the question blank
Taking into account the accommodation and services ELHA provides, do you think that the rent for your home represents good or poor value for money?
- 72% of tenants said they thought ELHA’s rents were very good or fairly good value for money, an improvement from 68% in 2020
- 18% said they were neither good not poor value for money, and
- 10% said they ELHA’s rents were very or fairly poor value for money
- Only one tenant left this question blank (0%)
Do you prefer the 3 Year or 5 Year Rent Deal?
- 69% of tenants preferred the 3 year deal
- 28% of tenants preferred the 5 year deal
- 3% of tenants left this question blank
